FAQs

1、What is the Complete Workflow Spray Gun Combo designed for?

The Complete Workflow Combo provides one dedicated spray gun for primer and one for top-coat application.

It allows painters to move from surface preparation to the finishing stages without repeatedly changing large and small nozzle sets or cleaning primer residue from the top-coat gun.

It is suitable for automotive repairs, panel refinishing, restoration work, full-car projects, and professional or advanced DIY use.

2、Why should I use separate spray guns for primer and top coat?

Primers are generally thicker and often require larger nozzle sizes and higher material delivery. Base coats and clear coats require finer atomization and more precise control.

Using one gun for both applications requires repeated disassembly, cleaning, nozzle changes, and adjustment. Residual primer can also contaminate the top coat and affect the final finish.

Dedicated guns make the workflow faster, cleaner, and more consistent.

3、Which spray gun combination should I choose?

Choose the top-coat gun based on your required finish quality and the primer gun based on primer viscosity.

• Premium professional setup: PRD-817 1.3mm + PHS-155 1.8mm — recommended for professional full-car refinishing and high-end repair work.

• Best-value professional setup: PRD-717 or PRD-627 1.3mm + PHS-135 1.8mm — recommended for regular body-shop repairs and complete-panel projects.

• Budget-friendly setup: PC-415 or PC-416 1.3mm + PHS-135 1.8mm — recommended for general repairs, beginners, and occasional use.

• High-build primer setup: Select the PHS-135 2.5mm when spraying thicker filler or high-build primer.

4、Which primer nozzle size should I choose?

1.3mm: Suitable for lower-viscosity primers, sealers, fine primer application, and smaller repairs.

1.8mm: The most versatile option for standard automotive primers and surfacers. Recommended for most customers.

2.5mm: Designed for high-build, filler, and higher-viscosity primers requiring faster material delivery.

Always check the primer manufacturer’s technical data sheet before selecting a nozzle size.

5、Which nozzle size should I choose for the top-coat gun?

1.2mm: Suitable for lower-viscosity base coats, fine metallic work, and controlled material delivery.

1.3mm: The most versatile choice for automotive base coat and clear coat.

The final choice depends on coating viscosity, reduction ratio, application speed, and spray technique.

6、Can the top-coat gun spray both base coat and clear coat?

Yes. Many of the selectable top-coat spray guns can apply both base coat and clear coat when correctly adjusted.

However, because this is a two-gun setup, the same top-coat gun must be thoroughly cleaned before switching from base coat to clear coat.

Painters who want a completely separate gun for primer, base coat, and clear coat should consider a three-gun workflow.

7、Is this Combo suitable for beginners?

Yes, provided the user understands basic paint preparation, coating viscosity, pressure adjustment, and spray-gun cleaning.

For most beginners, we recommend a 1.3mm top-coat gun paired with a 1.8mm primer gun. This is the most versatile starting combination for common automotive repair projects.

Always perform a spray-pattern test before applying material to the actual vehicle.

8、What is included in the Combo?

The Combo includes one selected top-coat spray gun and one selected primer spray gun.

The cups, standard service tools, adapters, and accessories supplied with each gun depend on the selected models and configurations.

Review the selected options and “Included in the Box” information before purchasing. Recommended accessories displayed below the product are not included unless specifically stated.

9、Do I need an air filter and moisture separator?

Yes, they are strongly recommended.

Water, oil vapor, rust, and particles in compressed air can affect primer adhesion, coating atomization, color accuracy, and clear coat finish.

A proper air-treatment system is especially important during longer spraying sessions and full-panel or full-car refinishing.

10、Does the Combo include warranty and return coverage?

Yes.

Eligible PORPHIS spray guns include a 1-year limited warranty covering qualifying manufacturing defects and are subject to the applicable PORPHIS return policy.

The warranty does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, improper cleaning, cured primer inside the gun, misuse, or damage caused by incompatible replacement parts.
